Board Development solutions for a non-profit organization.
Client: A non-profit organization with 90+ employees, four locations and provides early education services to predominantly low income families.
Situation: Client had an unproductive board which made them vulnerable to sanctions and a decrease in funding.
Challenge: Client’s current board members consisted of friends of the Executive Director who were not governing the organization and did not contribute to the organization’s fundraising efforts.
TLL HRC’s Solution: Board Development, a Fundraising Plan and Policy creation. A few board members resigned, while the remaining board members were trained and presented with a pool of qualified board candidates to consider for the vacancies created by the resigning members. Regular re-occurring board meetings were scheduled, by-laws were updated, an executive compensation policy was created and a 5 year fundraising plan was developed and provided to the board and Executive Director to review and approve.
Result: A more productive board committed to holding the organization’s Executive Director and Staff accountable for the organization’s success. And, once implemented, the 5 year fundraising plan resulted in an initial 150% increase in funds with an average 25% increase each subsequent year during a recession.
